The Wall Street Journal recently published an info-piece, Wall Street Journal Guest Experience Trends 2015, about top trends for the Travel & Hotel Industry for 2015. Some items the article covers are:
- State of the industry – 49% think Rev-Par will be better than 2014; only 9% think it will be worse.
- Smith Travel Research says the average US Hotel Occupancy was 66%, the highest in 17 years.
- Millennials seek: Free Wifi, mobile check-in, unique experiences and social programming.
- Importance of Mobile: 71% of the US population has a smartphone & 85% of US residents aged 18-24 have one.
- Giving back. 60% of Millennials want their employers to offer volunteer opportunities
- Customizing Experiences. Many properties are offering custom experiences, and guests love it.
- Loyalty Programs: Important for smaller meeting groups, and need to be unique offerings to overcome the OTA’s
